Getting Calhoun County Court Records
Superior Court records have several access paths. Start with Georgia E-Access, select Calhoun Superior, and follow the PeachCourt provider link. PeachCourt requires an account. Its public page does not state full Calhoun County image coverage or document fees, so a result is one access channel rather than the whole clerk file.
For counter service, visit 31 Court Street in Morgan. The Superior Clerk's mailing address is P.O. Box 69, Morgan, GA 39866, and the phone is 229-849-2715. The legacy clerk page lists weekday hours of 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.; verify them before travel. A written request should name the court, case number, exact document, plain or certified choice, and return address.
- Identify the court and exact record.
- Try PeachCourt for a Superior Court index or image.
- Call the custodian for coverage, retrieval, and fees.
- Submit the request in person or by mail with clear file details.
- Confirm whether the copy must be plain, certified, or exemplified.
Fax 229-849-0072 is published, but no instruction promises fax orders. No current records email was located. Probate, Magistrate, and Small Claims use 229-849-2115. Ask whether a public terminal exists rather than assuming one is available.
Calhoun Clerk Records Desk
Karen Taylor is identified by the South Georgia Judicial Circuit as Clerk of Superior Court. The office indexes Superior civil and criminal cases, keeps filed documents and calendars, and performs juvenile-clerk functions. Probate and Magistrate records use a separate office. Municipal records remain with each city.

A request sent to the wrong clerk can delay retrieval. State the court level and case type first, especially when the same name may appear in more than one Calhoun County record system.
Court Record Types
A docket is the chronological index of case events. A filed document is the pleading, notice, motion, order, or judgment behind an entry. A calendar publishes settings. A certified copy is a clerk-authenticated reproduction. These are related records, but one cannot always replace another.
- Superior civil and criminal indexes and filed documents
- Signed orders, judgments, and dispositions
- Hearing, trial, arraignment, and term calendars
- Probate, magistrate, and small-claims files
- Municipal traffic and ordinance files
The current civil calendar shows hearing data, not a full history. The legacy criminal calendar displays charge and disposition fields without every filed image. Request the item that meets the need instead of asking only for “the record.”
Calhoun Docket or Certified Copy
A docket or calendar can identify a file and event date. It is not clerk certification. When the exact text of an order, judgment, or final disposition matters, request that signed document and say whether a certified copy is needed.
| Item | What it shows | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Docket entry | An indexed event | Provider or clerk |
| Calendar | A published setting | Clerk or circuit |
| Plain copy | Text of a filing | Custodian |
| Certified copy | Clerk-authenticated copy | Responsible clerk |
A screenshot or printout does not become certified merely because it came from an official website. The clerk's seal or certification is a separate official act tied to the requested Calhoun County document.
Inside a Calhoun County Court Record
Contents depend on the court and document type. A case index may identify the case and events, while the file holds the pleadings and orders. The current circuit civil hearing record and older clerk criminal calendar show the local fields a setting record can carry.
| Case identifier | The file number or calendar slot. |
|---|---|
| Caption | The case style or party roles, subject to restrictions. |
| Setting | Date, time, judge, and event type. |
| Entries | Pleadings, notices, motions, orders, and disposition events. |
| Signed document | The ruling or judgment, often obtained as a separate copy. |
The criminal calendar also includes count, charge, Georgia Code field, offense date, counsel, prosecutor, witness slots, and disposition groupings. It does not show a financial ledger, document links, or seal filter.
Calhoun Court File Retention
Georgia's Superior Court retention schedule treats felony files as permanent and permits microfilming. That does not mean each old Calhoun County file is scanned for download. A provider may show an index while the clerk retrieves a document from paper or microfilm.
For an older record, give the clerk a case number, year, court, party names, and document type. Ask whether retrieval takes advance notice and whether the stored copy can be certified. A missing online image does not establish that the file was destroyed.
The clerk says civil cases filed since January 1, 2000 are computer-indexed and sent to the state each day. Criminal cases from the same date are described as computer-indexed and sent weekly. July 1, 2001 is identified as the mandatory indexing date. These dates help frame a search, but they do not promise that every document image is online. A Calhoun County court record search for an earlier file should begin with the clerk's own storage and retrieval process.
Fees and Certified Copies
No current Calhoun County schedule was located for plain pages, certification, exemplification, docket searches, or PeachCourt images. Call before mailing payment. Ask for page and certification charges, payment forms, delivery costs, and any search labor.
| Item | Researched amount |
|---|---|
| Plain court-file copy | Not located; request a quote |
| Certified copy | Not located; confirm both charges |
| Exemplified copy | No local schedule located |
| PeachCourt image | Free account; image fee not stated |
| Open-records copy | State summary says up to $0.25 per page, not certification |
The Attorney General's copy summary concerns the Georgia Open Records Act and possible search or redaction labor. It is not a Calhoun County certified-copy schedule.
Mailing Calhoun Record Requests
Mail works best when a case and document are known. Address Superior Court requests to P.O. Box 69, Morgan, GA 39866. Include the case number, year, caption, exact document, plain or certified choice, return address, and a phone number.
Do not guess at the fee. Call 229-849-2715 for a quote and payment instructions. The published fax is not proof that fax orders are accepted, and the legacy contact form is not described as a secure certified-copy form.
Note: Ask whether file retrieval or same-day certification requires advance notice before planning a courthouse visit.
Federal Records Near Calhoun County
Federal dockets are outside the county system. The Middle District of Georgia Albany Division is the regional federal courthouse source.
The federal office image marks a distinct custodian and search route. State Superior Court records remain with Calhoun County and PeachCourt.
Sealed Records and Public Access
Access depends on Georgia law and court rules, not on whether a provider displays an image. The Georgia Open Records Act supplies a general framework. Court records also follow Uniform Superior Court Rule 21, with Rule 21.6 addressing sensitive-data redaction. Uniform Magistrate Court Rule 20 protects sensitive information in that court.
Juvenile, adoption, sealed, and confidential material may be withheld or limited. Redaction can protect identifiers while leaving a docket event visible. If a record is denied, ask the custodian to identify the statute, rule, or order supporting the restriction.
Georgia Open Records guidance recommends written requests and explains that an agency must cite the exemption used to withhold a public record.
A formal request does not require an office to create new analysis. Describe an existing Calhoun County record in enough detail for staff to locate it.
